Building Bridges: Meeting the Needs of People Diagnosed with a Mental Health Condition and a Developmental Disability Update: The Building Bridges conferences held March 7 and March were a great success! NBRC Thanks all those who participated in and attended these conferences, and especially Dr. Robert Fletcher and NADD for the inspiring and educational conference. Our March 8 conference resulted in the formation of Sonoma, Solano, and Napa County regional taskforces to further the goals identified the afternoon of March 8. These collaborations will work on identifying focus areas for the upcoming and next year, 2012-13 and 2013-14, which Dr. Fletcher will return for. The first meeting of the Sonoma County Taskforce will be held at NBRC in Santa Rosa, 2351 Mendocino Ave. If you’d like to participate or get more information, please contact Pamela Madden-Krall, pamelam@nbrc.net or 707-256-1204. NBRC has also posted the March 8 conference on our YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkCbX3guk9c&feature=plcp

North Bay Regional Center was awarded funding from the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) in partnership with the California Department of Mental Health and the Department of Developmental Services. Building Bridges is two training conferences that will be offered in two formats: the first, March 7, from 1:00 to 5:00pm, for regional center vendors, families, and others interested in how best to meet the needs of people diagnosed with a mental health condition and a developmental disability, including best practices for assessment and working with interdisciplinary teams. The second, March 8, from 8:30am to 5:00pm, for mental health professionals and other professionals working with individuals who have a dual diagnosis of developmental disability and mental health condition. The afternoon session of this conference will be centered around improving community collaborations and the systemic change needed to increase access across service delivery systems.
